The blade that comes with this saw is OK … not a cheap throw-away blade. This saw is well built. It has a great water tank for keeping the blade lubricated and cool. It is very stable while cutting. The guide works well. For cutting stones, I need to see precisely where the blade is relative to the stone so I have to raise the blade guard … thus I get splashed with the cooling water. Even so it is a great saw.

Worked great. Don’t trust the bad reviews.I admit that I get scared off from some bad reviews. So much so that i bought a manual tile cutter because of some good reviews. Long story short after a handful of tiles I took the manual cutter back and bought this Ryobi. Best thing i ever did. I have already made a few hundred cuts on both mosaic tiles and subway tiles. It has worked flawlessly with the same factory blade. The main thing to remember is too slowly feed the tile in. Don’t force it, let the saw do the work. And the chipped edges can be avoided by completely feeding the tile through even after the break. The side of the blade will smooth out the “chipped” edge. Also make sure to use the guard for consistent cuts. On smaller tiles I used cut off tiles on top of each side as I fed the tile through. This especially helped with the mosaic tile sheets. Lastly, it helps to cut the tiles upside down (rough side or webbing of mosaic facing up. Good luck. I am guessing that a lot of bad reviews are from less handy people blaming the tool instead of themselves .

I have used this on a couple of bathrooms and it works fine. It does not have a pump that circulates the water rather it has a well and the blade runs through the well. It keeps the blade cool and cuttings wet as long as you keep the well filled with water. When you are standing behind the blade you do get wet along with anything else that is there so set up accordingly. Two complaints are the quality of the blade that comes with the saw. It will only last through one job. AND the measures to align the fence don't match. So for example when you set the fence on 4 inches and 4 inches you cut does not come out square. It isn't off by much but it is annoying. After many bad cuts I figured out how to keep the fence exactly parallel to the blade.

I was able to make straight cuts on 13 inch porcelain tiles with ease. The guide worked well for this. although sometimes it would cause it to bind. To cut at an angle I was unable to use the flimsy angle guide. It would just flex and send the cut off in the wrong direction.
Cutting at a 45 degree bevel was very tricky as you had to cut the piece to length and then cut the 45 degree bevel which would change the length, very frustrating.
I also found that if I put the tiles on the saw upside down I got a smoother cut.
Overall I was able to get the job done with this saw. If it had a better angle guide I would give it 5 stars.

First, it takes time to make sure it is straight (if it is even able to be straight), I had to take time to ;turn the saw off, and go front to back to make sure it was aligned. Second, even with slight small pressure, the fence will slide and move causing tiles to be cut uneven (and basically wasting the tile). I had to use an extra C clamp to make sure it was tight and wouldn't move but that didn't work all of the time either. MY advice, rent one or buy if you will not use the fence.

The first few cuts went GREAT. The machine was quieter than I thought it would be. After about 40 square feet I noticed it was not cutting as well and chipping all of the tiles so I got a new blade but didn't make an improvement. I thought it was a little odd and noticed it was a lot lot louder. Finally I investigate and holey blade wobble! It moves back and forth about 1/4 of an inch. Surly this cant be right, I call up Ryobi and the gentleman tells me to bring it back. So I will but really disappointed that this saw didn't work out. I was very gentle with it and used it only on ceramic tile.
