The Cal-Flor A.S. Allure UnderTransition (8-Pack) can be used in residences or commercial spaces. It transitions flooring between rooms. Special designs can be created and patterns within a room, such as a 45° angle, without special tools or other transitions. One carton is all you need.

This made the job SO much easier...
I realized after I started my flooring project with Allure vinyl planks that I needed to switch directions. It is hard to explain the way my room is but I was laying planks from the middle of the room lengthwise, from the middle to the south and needed to turn around and do the rest from the middle to the north. Hope that makes sense. Anyway, these strips go under the overhang and stick out just like the planks have that sticky edge that sticks out... again, hope this makes sense... so you can just motor on with your planks in the other direction. They can be a bit tricky to get positioned correctly but using the parchment paper that is between the Allure planks helps, keep that over the strip until you have it placed where you want it, then peel it out. I do wish these were explained more clearly on the HD website. I had to really search for information on how these worked. Youtube videos on how to use them would help a lot!

Why is this not sold in stores?I installed allure gripstrip cherry flooring throughout my house. For about half of my house, I was able to install from left to right. I got to a point where I needed to start on the other half of my house and move in the opposite direction. The way the planks are made, either I'd have to install backwards (tuck planks under each other, going right to left) for 3 rooms, or I'd need this product so I could reverse and start going left to right again. There was some confusion receiving the product, so I would suggest ordering well in advance of starting your project just in case you need it. Unless you're only installing one room, you'll probably need it. As shown in the picture, I installed the row against the wall after coming down a hallway and installing a room parallel on the right, then I installed the under transition strips on the left side of the planks and started a row going the opposite direction. I hope that makes sense.

great transition toolwould recommend this to anyone installing plank flooring and especially if there is a transition of direction. Take a moment to insure the strip has full contact before you pull the paper backing off. It grabs like the glue strip on the planking and does a great job of creating transitions in hallways and butting up against other types of flooring.

As I saw others say, you need to have this if your are laying down these floors in any sort of ch...As I saw others say, you need to have this if your are laying down these floors in any sort of change of direction-- like a hallway or connecting rooms. Depending on the layout of your planks and the direction you are going in... you will probably also need a heat gun to remove an inch of the backing on pieces of the plank to create your own grip strip, for which you will also want the Allure tape. With a little practice and patience, it all works nicely.
By the way... with this flooring in general... get a heat gun and keep it nearby as you are installing. Sometimes you make a mistake and the grip strip grips! Pulling them apart can break them. But a little bit of the heat gun from the underside of the strip or plank loosens them right up! I have learned by experience.

good productThis is what you need when working with resilient flooring. It is needed to change direction and makes repairs simple. The only thing that they should tell you is that you need to cut half the thickness of the flooring to make the seam flush and not have a bump in the floor.

A Necessary Product When Floor Turns 90 DegreesWhen your flooring turns 90 degrees (our kitchen floor makes a sharp right turn into the laundry room/hallway) this product allows you to change directions flawlessly. The planks of our new kitchen flooring run North/South and we wanted the laundry room and hallway to run East/West (it's not very wide and would have looked stupid had it run in the same direction as the kitchen.) The transition flooring strips allowed us (my wife) to do this and achieve professional results. A contractor friend of ours thought we had the floor installed by a pro.
