These are a trade off
These treads are very convenient, and for many of us, the best option for our stairs. Sadly, that convenience comes with a $50 a piece price tag. I ordered 7 of these, four were cracked roughly 6" across the bull nose straight out of the box. One of the cracked ones had a bubble under the wood grain, the size of a dime. One was not cracked, but instead the wood grain was applied incorrectly, and was not adheared to the tread on one end.
So, here is the trade off. All of the damage is on the ends of the treads and will be cut off to make them fit. So in the end, I will end up with nice stair treads. I was expected to pay 100% of the price, but got about 75% usable product. The fact that I will cut off the damaged parts, should not make it acceptable to sell poor quality items at more than premium pricing. I would only consider purchasing these as a last resort.

I spent $1,272.58 only to be left with 17 damaged stairs and risers. Every box was damaged on the left, right, or both. The issue appears to be with the manufacturer's packaging, rather than that of the delivery itself. The color does appear to be a perfect match to the flooring, but with smashed product, it's inconsequential.

Problem solverI originally wanted to replace the stairs with real wood, but that wasn't going to be possible. The 4 stairs connect the kitchen and family room which both have the Saratoga Hickory laminate flooring. My next thought was to put laminate on the risers and treads and use a stair angle for the nose, but the combined height was too much. I found these Capatreads and they fit and matched perfectly. I was a bit startled at the price. One capatread was the price I paid for two boxes of flooring. Being that this was plan C, I decided to do it. They shipped quickly and they were all in excellent condition. I simply cut them down to size with my radial arm saw and glued them in place. It looks fantastic.

DisappointedMy husband and I laid down our laminate floors and ordered these caps for our stairs. I ordered them on November 20 and did not receive them until December 13. When they arrived, they were banged up and 4 of them were cracked. We were able to cut out SOME of the dings and cracks, but not all I them. I had to purchase 14 stairs at $50 bucks a pop. Ended up spending $745 just for my stairs. At $50 per stair, I would think they would be a little enter quality. Not very happy, but it's too late now.

Terrible quality controlYou can't buy these in my local Home Depot so I had to order them online and wait 13 days for them to get here. The first tread has a Sharpie ink mark visible from the display window on the box. I couldn't believe they would send a tread that was obviously damaged. I opened that box to find that there are actually two Sharpie lines, clearly indicating an area of the tread that is bubbled up and defective. Are you kidding me?? I waited 13 days and paid $50 for this? Now I have a project at a standstill because of Home Depot's inability to quality check their merchandise before they send it.
