A tile to floating floor transition worth a special order wait!
I purchased ANODIZED ALUMINUM 3/8 IN. X 8 FT. 2-1/2 IN. METAL REDUCER TILE EDGING TRIM iby placing order at Home Depot customer service desk. I was looking for a floor transition between mosaic tile and luxury vinyl floor. I want it to have ability to accommodate a floating floor where a 1/4 inch gap is required between laminate and all edges. Reno-V's reducer is hinged so it lays nicely on floating floor allowing concealed movement without binding.
Schluter had the perfect solution. I found it in a Schulter catalog hanging by more common Schluter tile edging stocked in store. I placed my order. It came direct ship to my home on time and was exceptionally packaged to prevent damage. BTW this item is likely a special order, even at specialty tile stores (I checked after placing my order to see if I could pick it up quicker). One downside is you must buy 8 feet. This more than you might need for a small job; but you can save excess for the next tile to floating floor transition job.
Installation was easy though you do need some special tools. Separate top and bottom sections of Reno-V before cutting In a mitre box and 32 teeth per inch hack saw (or equivalent method). Don't forget to de-burr cut edges with file after cutting. My install went smoothly. I simply delayed installing last few inches of mosaic tile at the door until my Schulter Revolution-V reducer arrived. Installing was easy, just take your time to measure your cuts. My top reducer plate is cut a bit shorter than the bottom for better fit and function. Two thumbs up for Schluter and Home Depot!
