The Ridgid XLT premium margin trowel is a well crafted 6”x2”, stainless steel, flat trowel. It looks “perdy” out of the box like all Ridgid tools... and then you put it to work and it gets dirty. With it’s "golden" stainless blade, this trowel claims to allow for 50% faster cleaning “compared to competitors’ trowels” and resists rust/corrosion. I'm assuming that's true, but I’ve been programmed to clean and dry my tools at the end of every job with a wire brush and scraper.
I like the comfortable, ergonomic handle, and the angle when tiling. Regarding the angle of margin trowels in general, I find them easier to use when I'm working below the waist. When I'm working above the waste (for example, on a backsplash), I find the angle less convenient... perhaps that's just me.
The taper ground blade is definitely well crafted and I like the idea that the solid shank handle won’t ever rotate or separate. Overall, another nice Ridgid tool.

Tight spot no problem.All to often, at least once per tile Job you find yourself in a situation needing something just small enough to get between tight spaces this flat margin trowel is your answer. I use this tool more often then I ever thought I would. Its perfect for tight places but even better for back buttering.

I'm excited that Ridgid has come out with a line of trowels. This little margin trowel is invalua...I'm excited that Ridgid has come out with a line of trowels. This little margin trowel is invaluable for a wide variety of tasks. I often use margin trowels for tile work, mixing small batches of mortar or grout, scraping buckets, scooping drywall mud and even concrete work. So far this particular one has been great at mixing small batches of stucco patch and is sturdy and stiff. I like how the handle feels and has grip to it, and that it will not rust because it is made of stainless steel, a common issue with standard steel tools. Stainless may wear quicker and the two-piece design is weaker than one-piece, but honestly unless you run it over with your truck or use a grinder to clean it every day (common in the trades) you will likely lose it long before it breaks.

It's great for spreading thin set in tight areas, but I like to use mine to back butter my tiles. I can scoop out just a little bit and run it over the tile. Works great. It's built very well and is light and easy to control. It's easy to clean and the rubber grip is nice.. If you lay tile, you need one of these. RIDGID makes some great tools.

The trowel has lasted several jobs and the rubber handle is comfortable to hold and use. Cleanup is easy, as long as you remove or soak the thin set off. The smaller surface area makes this very useful for back splashes and other tight areas, such as around toilets on the floor or in corners. Very solid and well made tool.

I recommend it and will have many uses for it. Margin trowels usually are used to mix and scoop stuff, then spread materials such as thinsets in tight quarters. I'm sure I will also use this one to scrape and clean various items. It is well made and has a comfortable handle.It is made from durable stainless steel. The blade is welded securely to the handle. I am pleased to say no waste of time trying to clean off the label. At last a label peeled off all in one piece!! I took a few close up photos to help the decision maker. .

It's made from stainless steel and this XLT premium series trowel is designed to last 25% longer and to clean up 50% faster. I really like the feel of the handle and the balance. It is heavy duty and the weld of handle and trowel looks very strong. I've used Ridgid tools for many years and have always been impressed by their quality and longevity. It comes with Ridgid's warranty against material and workmanship defects. I'd definitely recommend it for the professional or homeowner doing their own concrete projects.
