We purchased a similar product to protect our carpeted stairs years ago from Home Depot and we’re looking to replace it. This version is too thick, the teeth on the back are not as sharp, and it is not malleable for use on the stairs. To be fair, we are probably asking more of the product then it was designed for (although the same can be said of the first purchase that worked just fine). We plan to return this.

If I had purchased this runner here in SC in August, I could have stretched it out on my driveway...If I had purchased this runner here in SC in August, I could have stretched it out on my driveway and let the heat of the sun smooth it out. Not so much in January. It's rolled so tight that it's never going to be smooth on the carpet it's supposed to protect. The hills, valleys and bumps make it actually difficult to walk on and they prevent the runner's "spikes" from getting a decent grip on the carpet.
