We replaced the floor in our family room with a plank vinyl which left the two steps up to our kitchen bare wood. The steps were made for carpet and could not be stained and finished so this seemed like a good option. It was but its not perfect. It fit well and looked good, cutting it was easy on my table and miter saws. installation went ok but the surface was already scratched when i was done installing. i was very careful and only ran it across my saw tables. Because of this i worry that the finish will not last and it will be difficult to replace since it is glued down. the risers were much thicker material than the steps so when used on the side of the returns they stuck out too far. When i paid extra for a right and left return i expected a fully assembled return that would slide over the step. what you get is a 45degree miter at the nose and a separate piece of half round stock. the half round is not hollowed out like the step nose so it wont fit around the existing one. you will have to remove or trim the existing side nose and cut the angle in the half round. the other problem was that the factory cut edge on the return side of the step was all chiped so that you could see the light colored masonite. It took all day to do two steps but both had left and right returns which is not typical. This product is best for standard steps but i would still recommend because my only other option was rebuilding the steps with natural wood.

Decent Product !!!Bought this for basement steps where we have brazilan cherry at the top . Decent match though our top floor is 3/4" brazilian cherry Hardwood . I would have bought real wood cherry treads if they are not so expensive . Overall these seem to be a decent quality , easy to install , just hope they hold up with traffic up/down often !!!
