The DC39 Origin canister vacuum is engineered with Dyson cyclones that capture more dirt than any other. Great Vacuum!
I recently bought the DC-39 to replace an old DC-17 Animal. What I like most about the DC-39:
* I can remove the beater bar (see below).
* The redesigned crevice tool with the retractable brush.
* The multi-part wand that lets you connect attachments to the hose, the trigger head wand handle, or the wand.
What I like the least:
* I'd like a longer cord.
* I'd like a longer hose.
* I can't figure out why the DC-39 Animal costs $100 more, but you can buy the turbine tool separately for $70... weird.
The details:
To be honest, we never should have bought the DC-17 because we don't have that much carpet and I always ended up using the wand with an articulating hard floor tool, but the problem with that was that we have three large hairy dogs and I had to stop every 5 minutes to unclog it.
Removing the beater bar on the DC-39 solves the problem -- dog hair goes in and up the tube without getting caught on anything and I've cut my vacuuming time by at least 30%.
