Whether you are a do-it-yourselfer or a professional, the ratcheting mechanism of the POWERNAIL Model 45R allows you to strike the tool multiple times to set the nail. I purchased a Powernail 45R in December of 2016 and have begun installing 3/4 clear Maple hardwood flooring in March of 2017. I am not sure what difference the 45RW has, but the picture looks the same as the one I have. I also purchased the 2 inch powernail brand 16 gauge cleats. From the start, these cleats would crumple and fold over and be driven onto the finished surface of the flooring. I thought this was likely my error, hitting too hard or too soft or the wood was too hard. I finally started "pre-drilling" the nail holes, but lining up the cleat to be driven into the pre-drilled hole was virtually impossible. I finally tried another brand of cleat that fits this nailer made by Bostitch, also a 2 inch 16 gauge cleat, that worked flawlessly and seemed to fit much better into the channel of the nailer. I believe the powernail cleats are defective and would not recommend them to others using this nailer. I do like the nailer itself, which works quite well with the Bostitch cleats. I have now put in about 400 square feet of flooring on my way to a little over 1300.
