It is what it is
This flooring appears to be made up of rejected pieces that did not meet quality control standards to be sold in regular floor retail stores. Many of the pieces in the six boxes I had were marked at the place of defect on the board with a pink grease pencil. There is a LOT of color variation, including dark wood, knots, filled in knots, and mineral streaks. many of the pieces were milled wrong with missing or broken tongues. Having said all that, I still would recommend the floor as a good buy for the average homeowner. There was about 10 per cent that was unusable or pieces I rejected for color, but the end result was a very pretty floor. It did take longer than average to install because of having to cull out bad boards and trim some to fit better, but the price cant be beat. The bottom line is, you get what you pay for. There are better products found in retail flooring stores, but they will probably cost twice the square foot price than what you are paying for at the home depot.

I purchased several samples of this flooring prior to ordering. Color variations in the shipment are not reflected in the samples. This flooring has far more darker pieces than I expected. I sorted through and pulled out the darkest. Plan on ordering extra if you do not want pieces that are 10 shades darker. Otherwise the quality is good and I am happy with the completed project. have two extra boxes out of 14 cases of very dark lengths.

awful
This is not the way we thought hardwood floors would wear. We would have been happy to spend much more to not have the mess we have now. Not even a month old in our remodled kitchen, the granite isnt even on the counter tops yet and the floor looks worse everyday. What is scatching the surface? Maybe my two medium sized dogs? What is denting it? We have been so careful and are so disappointed. We bought maple they said it was one of the hardest. What is htis duraluster finish I swear if I look at it too ong it scratches it. If my cabinets werent all down I'd rip it up. We went hardwood becasue the new enlarged kitchen runs into the diningroom. Do yourself a favor do ceramic tile or laminate. My 12 year olf laminate in family room doesn't have any scratches. ugh

Very nice looking floor, however, it is not as durable as oak
We got the flooring because we installed natural maple cabinets in the kitchen. We did some research online and asked around and this was supposed to be suitable for kitchens. We hired someone else to do the installation. We have had the floor about 4 months now. For the most part it still looks very good. However, this wood is not as scratch resistant as oak flooring. In the family room right next to the kitchen I installed pre-finished oak flooring. The oak continues to hold up much better. I should say that we have two active dogs and three kids, and the family spends most of our time in the kitchen, so it is a tough environment. The floor still looks excellent, but if you get down close to the maple floor you can clearly see marks from dog nails.

Beautiful floor at excellent price. Hope it will stand up to traffic better than Plano Marsh Oak floor
Several years ago we installed the Plano Marsh Oak solid hardwood floor in our bedroom. While it looks very nice, it's very glossy and it shows many dents and imperfections from foot traffic, dog paws/claws, etc. It's not really scratched, it's what I would call "dented" or "dinged".
So...this time we bought 22 cases of the Cinnamon Maple solid floor to do our great room and hallway area. This floor is a lower gloss - what I'd call a satin finish, and maple is harder than oak, so I'm hoping this floor is more resistant to the dogs and normal foot traffic. Time will tell.
I will say this: at $3.00/sq ft, this floor is comparable in price to a mid grade of carpet, so it's an excellent value.

Pretty flooring - more variation that expected.
While we can appreciate the beauty of this product - it was more "busy" than we'd expected. There were quite a few dark colored knots and several dark streaks. We've moved furniture around on it and haven't seen the slightest scratch or ding. It has a nice luster to it. I rely strongly on other peoples reviews and photos so I though I'd share ours, hope it helps you make your decision.

Bad Quality Control by Bruce
We did a whole house with this product over 1500 sq ft. The cherry wood color was fine for coloring, but the "natural" maple was more like the "country" maple - darker pieces, knots, black streaks. So we actually sorted through 55 boxes to get all the lighter pieces for the living room and dining area, which is more formal. We conceded to the mixed maple look for the upstairs bedrooms, but that wasn't what we really wanted. We had to re-box everything we sorted so the installer could work from it. We had a great installer and in the end it all looked pretty good. HOWEVER, there were many pieces that were obvious rejects from the manufacturer, already marked with pink or green chalk and many long pieces that had partial tongues and gray colored boards. Even boards with nail holes! I wasn't disppointed in Home Depot, I was very disappointed in Bruce. Seemed like they received these rejects from other jobs and then tried to pawn them off in production to other boxes. So, if you buy this product be aware of color variations and bad boards. I actually bought 10% over and then another 6 boxes for rejects...good thing I did or I wouldn't have had enough!
