A ready to use latex patching compound that fills nail holes, repairs cracks, gouges, broken corners and chipped edges on wood surfaces. Accepts stain better than conventional wood patching compounds. Cleans up easily with soap and water.

I have found Zar wood patch to be the best for patching holes. It sets up fast and shrinks very little. It takes stain very well and sands easily. I have been using it for many years and have been very pleased with the results. I do not know why Home Depot does not stock it on the shelves, I had to order it on line and get it shipped to the store.

went on well (I wetted the wood before applying the filler to keep it pliable). In cracks larger than 1/16" it took two appllications. The putty sanded easily. We applied tung oil only as a finish (on red oak) and it looks great. The filler is visible but we didn't stain it.

Had to force into gaps. Sanded smooth. Have not yet tried to stain yet to see how it accepts color.
