The easy to use 402A Porta Nailer is the finest and most versatile flooring nailer on the market and comes ready to angle nail 5/8, 3/4 and 33/32 in. thick tongue and groove flooring. The nailer will also nail 3/8 -9/16 in. floors, metric configurations including bamboo and can be converted for face nailing by changing accessory shoes (sold separately). Preferred-Seating System uses a ratcheting ram to ensure nails are properly seated and flooring strips are tightly driven together. The patented anti-split nail cuts through wood without splitting your floor and three lengths of nails will insure you have the right fastener for the job. The nails wide head and grapple barb design provides superior holding power. The 402A Nailer uses 2 in., and 1-1/2 in. T Headed 16-Gal. Essential tool for hardwood flooring
This tool is essential for installing hardwood flooring. Works very well and requires about 2 swings per nail. The upgraded model might be better for facenailing near walls, however if you have a nail gun with an air tank this will work just as well. I prefer this model rather than the model that attaches to an air tank becuase I have found that the action of banging the nailer head helps draw in boards that are slightly warped side to side. The only downside to this product is simply that you have to swing the hammer twice per nail, but I opted for this model for the reason that I feel like it helped draw in boards better than the air model. If you are installing wood - which is a pretty easy DIY project - get this tool, a chop saw and a table saw.

Was needed to disassembly it several times per 500 sq....Was needed to disassembly it several times per 500 sq. feet to extract jammed nails, but overall experience is great. Manual nailing is easy. Disassembling and assembling also easy.

good dealThe nailer works fine, but the hammer is absolute garbage. The head came off within 1/2 hour, requiring another wedge. After using it to fasten approx. 60 sq. ft., the striking surface is mushrooming and small pieces are coming off. Not a good thing since I am installing pre-finished oak, I don't need metal chips laying around. Would have given this 5 stars otherwise. Good deal for the price.

Broke within a few hoursBroke within a few hours and would not properly set the nails.
I have used a Porta-Nailer 10 years ago and it worked great. It appears that quality isn't the same. Ended up buying a Norge pneumatic nailer which ended up costing less and work so much better.

very easy to use, even without a compressorit did jam once; two hours to disassemble to get out the jammed nails . . . not sure if it was the nailer or the quality of the nails HD offers
