It does the job for the DIY'er , and the price is right, but one thing to be aware of:
If you are trowelling onto concrete (my concrete was not super rough but not polished smooth either), the metal of this trowel is obviously not hardened steel, so the teeth wear down in pretty short order. I had about 250 sqr ft. to do, and did it in 2 stages ( about 125 sq ft per stage), on consecutive weekends. I used 2 of these, a different new trowel for each stage. I really probably would have been better off using 2 of these per stage, to maintain better proper adhesive depth, because the teeth were pretty worn down by the time I got to the end of the areas I was doing.
So I would recommend buying extra of these for your project if you have as big an area as I did...

The trowel was a great value - shipping fast, but shipping cost made it so soThe trowel was only about 3 bucks - a great deal, but with shipping it came to over $9. After 350 sq feet of adhesive application (over a concrete leveling compound) the teeth were showing definite wear.

You get what you pay forThis was an inexpensive trowel. The handle broke on the first use. Luckily I didn't have a large area so I was able to finish the job without much trouble.

Chinese garbageCheap piece of chinese garbage not worth the $2.47 I paid for it. The teeth are 1/32 inch deep and after putting down VCT glue on a 10' x 10' area the teeth wore down to nothing. I noticed the glue was not spreading properly so I looked at the teeth and the troweling edge had no teeth left. Would only recommend for a small closet.
